Prof Wendy Hardeman joined the UEA in 2015 as Senior Lecturer in Health Psychology. She was Guest Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Tampere, Finland for the academic year 2016-2017. Wendy previously worked at the University of Cambridge as Senior Research Associate in Behavioural Science, Department of Public Health and Primary Care. She completed her PhD at the University of Cambridge in the application of psychological theory and evidence to the development and evaluation of behaviour change interventions, and completed a combined BSc/MSc in Human Movement Sciences at the VU University Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Wendy’s research uses methods, theory and evidence from behavioural science and health psychology to translate research evidence into practice and policy. Her research focuses on the development and (trial) evaluation of behaviour change interventions to prevent and manage long-term conditions, in particular the promotion of physical activity and supporting medication taking. Her interests include scalable behaviour change interventions such as very brief face-to-face interventions and mobile health interventions (PROPELS), the Behaviour Change Technique Taxonomy v1, intervention fidelity, and process evaluation of complex interventions.

Wendy is Associate Editor of the British Journal of Health Psychology. She was Chair of the Scientific Committee of the 30th annual conference of the European Health Psychology Society and the BPS Division of Health Psychology in Aberdeen, 23-27 August 2016.
