Prof. Paul Dobson

Paul is a leading international authority on competition and consumer policy specialising in food supply and food retailing. His publications span the fields of business management, marketing, economics, law, and public health. He has led two ESRC-funded projects on the impact of retail pricing on overeating and pricing dynamics in UK food retailing, and an MRC-funded project on alcohol policy that examines how alcohol taxation and pricing regulations affect alcohol consumption. His current research focuses on the impact of food and drinks marketing and pricing on public health, examining how marketing choices can be designed to encourage people to moderate their consumption of unhealthy foods and alcohol and thereby improve their health.
